Indonesia: Komodo
Komodo marine park, off the island of Flores, is one of the best places to dive in Indonesia and the world. It is incredibly diverse, with healthy coral reefs; a range of megafauna such as sharks, turtles, mantas, and dolphins; as well as plenty of critters like pipe fishes, nudibranchs, octopuses, cuttlefishes, frog fishes and pygymy sea horses. It is characterised by strong currents and challenging dive sites, which make it a really exciting place to dive!!
Indonesia: Raja Ampat
You've doubtless heard of it, perhaps even dreamed of it. Now, YOU TOO can visit the one and only Raja Ampat. Located slap bang in the middle of the Coral Triangle (with the richest marine biodiversity in the world), it has a stunning variety of habitats, a huge range of dive sites and is home to both tiny critters (pygmy seahorses) as well as the most charismatic of megafauna (sperm whales, whale sharks, hammerheads). Above the water is a tropical jungle paradise.

Papua New Guinea is like the final frontier for travellers. Like the land before time, many areas of the country are untouched by tourism, and there are some incredible wild places waiting to be discovered. PNG has a very high level of endemism (species that are found there and nowhere else in the world). Diving is incredible, with hard and soft corals, huge schools of fishes and critters galore. Archipelagic waters and volcanic topography mean that waters can be up to 1500m deep - great for random whale visits and free diving!

Never heard of the Solomon Islands? You're not alone! When I moved there in 2014, most of my friends and family didn't know where it was (it's north east of Fiji between PNG and Vanuatu). What that means is that it's not heavily visited by tourists and many areas are untouched. It provides fantastic diving opportunities - from the capital, Honiara, to the Florida Islands, Russell Islands, Marovo Lagoon, and Western Province.
